Word Prompt: Frantic

I’d have liked to write a poem

Since today’s prompt word is Frantic

But I’m having writers block

(This old Brain’s up to its antics).

I thought of things that rhyme:

“Life’s just like crossing the Atlantic

In a rowboat with no oars

I am small, the sea’s gigantic”.

Or “Although I love my husband

I hate he isn’t so romantic

But I don’t like to pick holes

In case he finds me too pedantic.”.

Or “She’s obsessed with death,

The crystal balls and all things magic

But sometimes I tend to fret

When it verges necromantic”.

Or “She said he was a charmer,

But she was just being sarcastic

She really thought he was a sleaze

And found him very sycophantic”.

Or “He saw the earthquake coming

Like he’s blessed with powers mantic

Thank god he saved so many

Or it could have been traumatic”.

But alas my mind is blocked

Much to my regret and sorrow

I’ll just have to try again

When they post the prompt tomorrow.

  1. I really am in awe of how you come up with these poems, day after day. You have such a vivid imagination and a wonderfully quick wit. Me, I couldn’t even remember yesterday which quote I had posted the day before and had to click on my own post to check!

    1. Ach you, that was a very generous comment! Honestly I didn’t have a clue what to write and that was what I ended up with. I was considering a rewrite of the 3 little pigs…I’ll go back to that some other time. I was working on your nomination earlier and had to reread nearly all my posts so I didn’t repeat myself-so you’re not alone!!

  2. Excellent yet again, and I am so impressed with the black cap, I really didn’t think you’d find a drawing of one, let alone such a fine one. Thank you so much, it has put a smile on my face – as does your poetry. We have a pair in our garden, they are such beautiful little birds.

    1. Well you educated me since I wasn’t aware of them at all! My personal favourite is the Wagtail. I love how they prefer to walk rather than fly. We have one who lives down the road and spotted it using the traffic lights one day. Literally all the cars stopped and it trotted across when the green man showed! Mother Nature is a fabulous lady.

      1. I agree, wagtails are lovely. Never heard of one walking across at traffic lights, must have been a great sight. I am in awe of Mother Nature and can;t believe how many different creatures there are in this world.
